Web design trends that brands should be ready for in 2019

As the year draws to a close, web designers look ahead to see what trends are expected to make headlines in 2019. With that in mind, here are our predictions for what’s going to be hot in the coming months.

Fast loading pages

According to an article in Forbes, Google has conducted research into loading times, calculating that the bounce rate for a website rises to over 30% within just three seconds. That’s a lot of lost customers, so make speed a priority, particularly for mobile users, who are less patient than desktop and laptop users.

Mobile first

Having a responsive website, that adjusts according to the screen size of the user, used to be all the rage. But with more than half of all website searches now originating on smartphones and tablets, that’s simply not good enough. Your website should be designed with mobile users in mind, offering clear text that’s easy to read without zooming in and out.

Micro-animations

We’ve all experienced the frustration of interacting with a website, particularly on a smartphone, only to be left wondering whether that last tap or click was actually registered. Micro-animations use colour or text to guide the user seamlessly through their online experience, removing any doubt about whether an action has been logged. This is relatively easy to add in to your existing website. Most good developers, such as the Yorkshire web design company etempa.co.uk, will easily adapt your site to include these added-value features which web visitors love.

Bright colours

Last year saw a lot of interest in ombre shading and subtle colours, but in the coming months you can expect to see a trend towards brighter colours. Eye-popping colour draws the eye in, adding visual interest that can’t be ignored.

As with all web design trends though, it’s important to assess whether a trend is appropriate for your own particular circumstances before jumping on board. For many websites, adopting this trend just to be fashionable could have the opposite effect, putting off potential customers, so adopt this trend with caution.

Flat design

It’s in. It’s out. And now it’s coming back in again. Flat design looks set to have another moment in the spotlight in the coming months, with simple unadorned buttons and graphics that let your core message ring out.
