Ways that you can Help Yourself this January

It is always a good idea to make sure we take care of ourselves in January – the January blues – a low mood from the post-Christmas feeling, fatigue and dark nights and cold weather is something that hits most people in January.

But this January may feel particularly bleak – despite hope being on the horizon and the promise of a return to normal around the summer months, it may well be a difficult start to the new year for the first couple of months, so it is particularly important during this time to take care of yourself.

Here are a few things that you can do to banish both the winter blues and the lockdown blues!

Get out and about – Fresh air and exercise is a boost to your body and brain all year round but is particularly important during the winter when it is cold and dark. Getting outside can get your body the vitamin D that it needs, as well as exercise for physical fitness.

Treat yourself to what you love – A great way to feel more positive is to treat yourself to something – whether you love reading and would enjoy a good book, or perhaps you want some new clothes that you can wear in the spring and summer as things start to reopen, such as these mens Farah Oxford shirts from EJ Menswear.

 

Clean up – Cleaning and doing jobs in the home is a great way to do something productive as well as making the most of our homes. A cleaner decluttered home will help you to reduce feelings of stress as well.
