Designer clothes and their role in Christmas adverts

Many different items were shown in this week’s new Christmas adverts. The stylist who were cast dressed actors and models in a variety of different flattering pieces. EJ Menswear provided some of the clothes used in the Christmas adverts put out by every major UK supermarket. The production budgets for these adverts are usually high as Christmas sales are very important for UK businesses, and this includes supermarkets. The vast majority of citizens will make Christmas related purchases.

Mens designer shirts were amongst the items purchases by stylists. This is done on purpose as designer shirts for men are often well tailored and offer a more flattering fit. Having the entire cast of an advert in nice, well-fitting clothes helps to create a polished and professional image. Festive times often also encourage people to wear their best clothes, which for many men means pulling out their favourite designer shirt. The budgets set by the supermarkets will often also provide for other costly factors which may include paying for the talent, the cameramen, sound engineers, editors, makeup artists, hairstylists, set designers and renting camera and sound equipment. These crew members are often hired to do many different projects for the brands if the adverts are a success. The work Christmas based consumerism provides can be lucrative, yet very unpredictable and only comes around once year.
