Volksfest Wales came of age this year, and the dedicated VW camper van crowd turned out in force to celebrate, despite the terrible weather.
The event, held at Watton showground in Brecon, was the 18th anniversary and hundreds of Volkswagen camper van fans descended on the Welsh town. The weather left a lot to be desired with rain for much of the weekend, but spirits weren’t dampened and many campers stayed on site until the end of the event on Sunday afternoon.
Volksfest Wales is a great family occasion, with entertainment for all ages from circus skills workshops and magic shows through to live music and trade shows, and, of course, the “Show and Shine,” the ultimate chance to show off your own VW camper van and draw the envy of other enthusiasts.
The event is key in the calendar of companies like Welsh Coast Campers. The target audience at this sort of event loves a bargain, and so alongside a strong website, many businesses have a presence like Welsh Coast Campers have a presence on auction sites like Ebay http://www.ebay.com/usr/welsh-coast-campers/all-follows.
Not Just for Camper Vans
And of course, Volksfest Wales is not just for VW camper vans fans. Volkswagen has another iconic vehicle with arguably and even stronger fanbase – the VW Beetle. Beetle fans love to show off their vehicles too, and for those with “the Bug,” it’s important to attend and catch up with like-minded people.
The idea of camping on the banks of the picturesque River Usk is idyllic, but for those who prefer a more substantial place to stay, there were day passes available.
Brecon and the surrounding Brecon Beacons area is a must-visit part of Wales for those looking for a family holiday in the UK, and there is always lots going on. For more information on the events taking place in the Brecon Beacons, visit the official Brecon Beacons National Park website and plan your visit in advance.
Planning in advance will always pay back, especially when you want to take in a festival, because tickets often sell out a long way in advance. You can’t influence the weather, but you can be ready for it. The Beacons themselves are known for how quickly the weather can change, but you’ll be fine if you’re in your camper van!
